I am trying to model a continuous cable with 13 intermediate vertical cable supports as well as 2 horizontal supports at the ends. The results don't seem to be making sense, as the supports at the end are only showing the initial tension and no

RE: Continuous Cable with Intermediate Cable Supports

Ok here is how it works. If the Advanced Analysis Plus Engine check box is turned on and you see a green light beside it, you have the license required to perform the Advanced Nonlinear Cable Analysis. You need to change the analysis command from PERFORM ANALYSIS to PERFORM CABLE ANALYSIS. Also you need to add the PERFORM CABLE ANALYSIS and CHANGE command after every load case which is a requirement for performing this type of analysis. Moreover you need to ensure that each load case is a complete load case by itself and contains loads like selfweight of the cable.

A modified file is attached for your reference.

I'm not sure if I am using Advanced Nonlinear Cable Analysis, I have tried to model my model similar to the one posted in communities.bentley.com/.../102697 but this does not appear to be using Advanced Nonlinear Cable Analysis either. But as I said I am unsure. I do have the advanced analysis plus engine turned on.

Please take a look at this STAAD file

RE: Continuous Cable with Intermediate Cable Supports

First and foremost, you should use the Advanced Nonlinear Cable Analysis in STAAD.Pro to solve cable analysis problems. This analysis requires the license for the Advanced Analysis engine. If you are using that analysis and still facing the issues, please upload your model and we will take a look.

RE: Continuous Cable with Intermediate Cable Supports

Here is a pic of the Reactions of this model.
