introduction of expansion joint and bearings

i am using staad pro. its abridge design. one the capping beam are two transverse beams which are parallel to the capping beam. between the capping beam and the transverse beam is an elastrometric bearing.
i want to develop a model which would be able to show the beams and the bearing in such a way that it would function properly

In STAAD.Pro, you can simulate the effect of the Bridge Bearing or the Abutment by proper modeling of the support condition. You can use "Fixed But ...." type of support with proper spring constants (if required) in the respective orthogonal directions.

However, to simulate the effect of the expansion joint, you can try with the following suggestion. Define a very small length member whose length is equal to the width of the expansion gap. Define its material property values in such a way that it has a very low Axial Stiffness (EA). In the member specification, define this member as a "compression only" members. Hope this will work.

yes this would help. but the two beams with the expansion joint between them sits on the the same capping beam as shown in the sketch above. please how would this be done.
