I am trying to validate the results of an analysis on a raft foundation subject to point loads. Are there any validation examples for a case similar to this? (comparing STAAD analysis results against a textbook type solution).
I tried the example attached. I compared the results for the example to an analysis of the same problem in another software package (SAP2000). The results seemed to be quite different (the error in the tabulated results was >10% at over 50% of the nodes, although the plotted results look reasonably similar).
Is this level of error / difference to be expected? Which answer is correct?
Also I am using a mesh size of 0.5m x 0.5m, is this appropriate?
Thanks

There are 17 verification examples for plates and all of these are validated against results from standard text book problems. You can go to Help > Contents and browse to the section below to access these
The corresponding STAAD.Pro models are also provided with the software and can be found within
X:\SProV8i SS6\STAAD\Examp\Verification Models\05 Static Plate Shell Elements where X is the drive in which software is installed.
I looked at your model and did not see any issues with modeling as such. I hope the above verification problems would be useful.
