structural steel truss design in staad

Good day Everyone,

I would like to use STAAD pro to design the connections for a structural steel truss, however I am having a little difficulty as it relates to selecting the correct connection for the joints of my structure using the RAM connection in STAAD  (i would like to use bolted connections on CHS members). I would also like to know it is possible for me to design a base plate or a similar connection to attach my truss to reinforced concrete, as my truss is supported at the ends by a Reinforced Concrete column.

  • I'm probably not the best person to answer this because I'm not real familiar with RAM Connection but I don't think it does bolted CHS connections. I always have trouble looking through its list of connections but I didn't see any. I don't know if you can get your hands on Limcon but it does this type of connection. It doesn't work inside of STAAD but hand entering the data would still be better than doing it from scratch by hand, although I would definitely check at least one by hand just to validate you are entering data correctly and the program is correct.

I didn't look for a base plate like you would require for the connection to the concrete column but I doubt it does that.
