I am modelling a raft foundation, utilising the Plate mat foundation type support. Previously I had used the same spring stiffness in the vertical and horizontal directions:
PLATE MAT DIRECT ALL SUBGRADE 10500 PRINT
and the analysis ran OK
However, now I need different spring stiffnesses in each direction:
First I tried PLATE MAT DIRECT X SUBGRADE 1000 DIRECT Y SUBGRADE 10500 DIRECT Z 2000 PRINT
but I get a warning that the line length is too long and needs to be split
I then tried putting the different springs under separate entries (repeating the plate numbers) as per the attached file
but I get error messages about defining more than one support type for each node.
Is there a way of using the Plate Mat foundation support to specify different springs in the X, Y and Z directions ?

You can do that. The correct syntax is
plate-list PLATE MAT DIR ALL SUBGRADE f4 f5 f6
where f4 is the subgrade modulus for Y direction ( very important ), f5 and f6 are the moduli for X and Z.
