EC2 Concrete Design: Check for Serviceability

Hi all,

Attached is a screenshot of STAAD RC design based on EC2 requirements. Is it possible to include the deflection check within this report?

Thanks a lot

  • Ok Sir but in the staad output file there is a deflection check, how does STAAD calculate this? If Section 7 of EN 1992 is not implemented? (see screenshot of the deflection check)

    Thanks

  • You were asking about the RC Designer, not the batch mode.

  • I thought sec 7 was totally left out in STAAD as per your comment. So only in the RC DESIGN but in the batch mode it is considered? right?. Ok thanks clear enough
  • EC2 was removed from the batch mode in the recent STAAD.Pro versions. In the older versions, the old EC2 code (EC2 ENV 1992-1-1:1991 ) was implemented only. So if you want to use EN 1992-1-1:2004, RC Designer should be used. Please note that a new solution for the concrete design is available now which is called STAAD Advanced Concrete Design RCDC and which is capable of designing concrete elements as per EC2:2004. However, this requires a separate license.

  • And one more thing, but sorry if not related with the above query i just don't want to create another thread just need a simple and straightforward answer.I'm designing a prestress beam and when i use RC designer i noticed that the steel area required doesn't change compared to that of no additional prestressing force? Why?

    Thanks
