Shear wall boundary edge

Good Day,

I have analyzed and designed a shear wall following the ACI code in Staad and would like to clarify some results.. The shear wall design has reported Edge reinforcement, however the length of this edge or boundary zone has not been reported by Staad. Is there a command or any method that I can use to get the length or geometry of the edge or boundary elements of the wall?

I have included the staad file as a reference. STAIRS no beams + door.zip

  • The edge reinforcements are reported as number of bars of certain size. The software does not tell you how to provide these bars and so you can arrange the bars close to the edges after allowing for adequate clear cover. You may refer to any detailing handbook which may offer more guidance on how far the end zone can extend. The ACI code allows using 0.8 times the length of the wall ( L) as the lever arm when calculating the edge reinforcement and so I would assume that as long as you can arrange these bars within a zone not extending beyond L/5 from each edge, you should be OK.
