I have a question about how RAM Structural System is calculating steel column panel zone shears in a moment frame per AISC 360-05. It appears to be using equations J10-11 and J10-12, which are only applicable if plastic panel zone deformation is considered in the analysis. For an elastic analysis, equations J10-9 and J10-10 should be used. Please confirm what equation is being used for these checks.
Hi Karl,
Could you please elaborate on when to check "Frame stability considered in analysis" option? Thanks!

In Ram Connection? I like to align that with the Ram Frame assumption explained above. For anything less than a full 100% Rigid End Zone, panel shear deformation was considered.
The Connection help confirms:
Flag needed in the Panel-zone web shear verification. If it is true, the effect of panel-zone deformation on frame stability was considered in the analysis of the structure. Otherwise, it is false and the deformation was not considered.

When can we use this option "Frame stability considered in analysis" in RAM integrated in Staad Pro?
