How we apply wind load on the attached structures as per IS 875 Part 3 in Staad Pro.?

Thank you

RE: Wind load on Open Structure

hi sirs,

In my understanding, the concept for wind load on open structure is different from SACS, am I right?
In SACS, I would have to define an area including (1)its centroid and (2)a joint or joints in seastate input file.

Then I have no any clue where can I define the wind intensity according to height like in staad.pro.

I would have posted my question in SACS forum but I would like to hear the opinion from professionals who know staad.pro as well.

Thanks!

RE: Wind load on Open Structure

Thank you for help

RE: Wind load on Open Structure

In case it helps, the following wiki will point you to the appropriate sections of the help that deals with wind load generation

For applying wind load, you need to first generate the Load definition and then only you can apply the same in Load cases details.

Though STAAD has ASCE 7 - 10 Wind Load generator but for Indian Code you need to manually calculate the Intensity vs. Height in respective units and add them into the Wind load definition. For open structure, you can switch on the toggle while applying these definitions in Load Case Detail.

For applying wind load on a open structure you just need to divide the region as per your created model and then apply wind load on only on region which will be exposed to wind by setting up an appropriate limits on X,Y and Z axis's.
For further clarification please upload your model so that it can be corrected in order to give you an idea on how this is done.
