A portion of the building I am designing is skewed at a 7-degree angle. The braced frames that are in the skewed portion are experiencing large out-of-plane drift, which I assume is caused by the wind load being applied in the orthogonal direction, rather than at the 7-degree skew. Is there any way to enter the angle at which the wind load is applied?
For Ram Structural System, you can specify any plan angle when using Wind (or Seismic) User Defined Story Forces, but the code-specific, program generated loads are based on the global axes. For more see: If you are using a flexible diaphragm type, then it will be important to apply the loads in the plane of the frames to prevent large out-of-plane deformation.
