Interaction between RAM Connection Standalone and RAM Connection Integrated with STAAD.pro

My company uses both RAM Connection Standalone and Integrated since some of our people like to work in RISA and use the RAM Connection Standalone for connection detailing.

My question is: is there any way to convert the files from one program to the other? For instance if I had a structure with designed connections in STAAD.pro, would I be able to take the .rcc and .rsd for these connections and convert them to .cnx for use in a standalone file?

Also, I have been creating custom .con connection templates in RAM Connection integrated with STAAD.pro, is there a way to upload these connection templates into the Ram standalone library?

  • Quinton: There is no way to convert the connection data generated using the integrated RAM Connection interface within STAAD.Pro to RAM Connection standalone version. Using STAAD.Pro as the analysis package and integrated RAM Connection for the connection design/detailing, is the best workflow as that way you save a lot of time. Whereas if you use RISA as the analysis package, you would need to manually define your connection in RAM Connection standalone. The bigger problem is, what happens when the analysis model is updated ? With the STAAD.Pro - RAM connection interface, all your connections get updated automatically whenever your analysis model changes whereas it would not be the case if you go with the RISA - RAM connection route.

  • Hi Sye, is there is a cost advantage of ram connection standalone over limcon, and are you going to support ram connection standalone/limcon over the year
