Wind Load when Fireproofing is added in specification

Hi,

I have a question regarding Wind definition if a member is defined with fireproofing in specification,

When I calculated the value of intensity to be applied in the member, I noticed that the loads derived was still from un-fireproofed width normal to the wind direction even though I already added a 50mm thickness and fireproofing type is block.

Is there anyway to consider the fireproofed members added thickness if I will be using Wind definition?

    Sye, it would be very nice if STAAD would consider the increase in area due to fireproofing for wind loads. It seems like that shouldn't be too difficult to program. This is something I ran into all the time in my former life designing pipe racks. Usually, just the lower levels are fireproofed so you can't just apply a blanket increase to the entire wind load. Also, the fireproofing is usually the same thickness every where but members have different depths so one ratio to increase the area didn't work for all.

    I'm really surprised the big EPC's down here in Houston haven't made a big stink about this because it's very inconvenient. I remember I had a work around that wasn't perfect but it got the job done with too much fuss. I can't remember exactly what it was. I suspect a lot of people are just not realizing it doesn't do this.

    Tank: I agree it would be a useful feature to have. Enhancement request# 254112 is already logged in our system. I will send a reminder to our product manager so that this can be reviewed and considered for future development.

    We do get a regular influx of requests for enhancements and do need to consider all requests to provide the most value to the most STAAD.Pro users. We have recently added a new Ideas section to the site here as a location where all our users can post requests and we provide a voting system so that you can vote for or against these ideas. This is by no means a guarantee to have an idea added to the program, but hopefully should provide a method to gain a wider sense of value and help in providing a more general feedback.
