STAAD X - update on availability?

As an avid RamSS and Elements user, I'm curious about the release of STAAD X. More specifically, will STAAD X have composite beam design capability?

  • Although STAADX will not be released as a new product but the technology will be used to reinforce our existing products. For example the new version of STAAD.Pro Connect Edition that is coming up in July ( technology preview will be available in May/June ), will have a new STAAD.Pro Physical Modeler which will be powered by the STAADX technology.

We mentioned about this in the wiki below

In the near future, many of our existing products will similarly benefit from the great effort that our development team has put into developing this technology. Stay tuned for lot of exciting updates down the road

  • Seth, my jaw just hit the ground. After all the hype surrounding STAAD(X) you may not release it as a stand-alone program? Don't get me wrong, I've always been dubious of launching a whole new structural program but you are the ones who have been touting it as the next greatest invention since sliced bread. On one of the old threads about STAAD(X), someone suggested that it was vaporware. He was roundly criticized by Mr. Diego. Turns out the user may be right. Fortunately for Bentley, most users seem to have a very poor memory and this will be little more than a bump in the road for you.
  • We will continue to update and support those Ram Products for the time being. Ram Elements will be getting an update, but not composite design. Only RAM SS (or STAAD.pro) can perform composite beam design. STAAD(X) probably won't be released as a stand-alone product of that name. Rather, the technology we developed for that program will incorporated into the existing structural products.
