I have one question in case of design building according to AISC and building in seismic design category D , can staad take the requirements of AISC 341 for seismic provisions and if he does, how can i make it
Yes STAAD.Pro can check seismic provisions as outlined in the AISC 341-10. When designing as per the AISC 360-10, you need to add the design parameter called SEISMIC and set it to 1 for the seismic checks to be carried out. More details on the checks and the related design parameters can be found in section 2.3.7 of the Technical Reference Manual titled Seismic Provision Checking per AISC 341-05/10
Hello Sye, Related on this matter, Can I ask below?
1. Can I use Seismic design parameter having STAAD.Pro primary licenses only?
2. If primary license is not sufficient to used, what license type can I use?
Yes these checks are part of the Steel Design code checks and you should be able to get these with the basic STAAD.Pro license. Please make sure that you are using the latest STAAD.Pro CONNECT Edition 22.05.00.131. Design codes were separately licensed prior to the CONNECT Edition
Hello Sye, Great! Thank you so much for your informative answer.
For version lower than STAAD.Pro CONNECT Edition 22.05.00.131, what are the requirement to use this features?
As long as you have the license for the US Std Design code, you should be able to do the seismic check. Any CONNECT Edition version of STAAD.Pro older than 22.05 would also work because starting from the CONNECT Edition, design code licenses are included with STAAD.Pro or STAAD.Pro Advanced license. We highly recommend that you use the latest 22.05.00.131 version though.
As long as I have US Std Design Code (AISC360 and the like) I can use this features without any additional fee. Correct?
Thank you so much!
Have a great day!
