I got this question from a Professor in Korean. He would like me to post it here.
staad pro v8i doesn't allow the user to impart 2 (or more) orthogonal ground motions onto a structural model. Most building codes require this as well as research activities. How do we do this?
If needed, please contact me for his contact. Thanks.
Yili : One cannot have multiple time history load cases in the same file but one is allowed to define multiple time history loads as part of the same load case. So one is allowed to define ground accelerations in the form of acceleration time histories in two orthogonal directions as long as these are specified as part of the same load case. I have created an example file to demonstrate the same which is uploaded here Time_history.STD
Also as you know, if these ground accelerations can be represented through response spectrum loading then one can have multiple load cases with such loading.
