Hi, see below. Is there any way to offset the column in the direction perpendicular to the brace direction. It only gives me the option for a transversal offset (see what I highlighted in red), but I want a longitudinal offset (parallel to the column web or perpendicular to the brace direction). Only way I've found to do a longitudinal offset is by changing the column orientation to "longitudinal", but this will change to connection to a beam to column flange which definitely is not the intent.
Thanks
I have a wall that's 9" away (parallel to the column web) from the column center line. That means that if my column is centered on the base plate, the base plate cannot be more than 18" long in that direction. If I choose a base plate with 18" in that direction, then I get a warning saying this dimension doesn't meet AISC Design Guide 1 Appendix B, section 4.1. Offsetting the column in that direction would allow me to use a bigger plate size and meet the DG1 requirement while not exceeding the 9" limit to the wall. That condition is common in the project that I am working on.
It is 2023, and I'm running into same issue with base plate offset only allowed in single direction. Am I missing something in the software or has this not been fixed in the past 10 years since it was first brought up as an issue.
