Is there any way to offset the column in the direction perpendicular to the brace direction. It only gives me the option for a transversal offset (see what I highlighted in red), but I want a longitudinal offset (parallel to the column

RE: Base Plate - Column Offset

It is 2023, and I'm running into same issue with base plate offset only allowed in single direction. Am I missing something in the software or has this not been fixed in the past 10 years since it was first brought up as an issue.

RE: Base Plate - Column Offset

we have this condition quite often, especially when we're detailing near existing structures. would really like to see this option in connections module

RE: Base Plate - Column Offset

Can we get offset in both directions added to standard column base plates as well? Besides at corner braces, transverse offsets also occur a lot at braces in walls where they can't bump out into one side. Renovations in particular come to mind as one example where you often can't use preferred symmetrical configurations because of interference with existing construction.

RE: Base Plate - Column Offset

Thanks, I logged the request for now. That means that if my column is centered on the base plate, the base plate cannot be more than 18" long in that direction. If I choose a base plate with 18" in that direction, then I get a warning saying this dimension doesn't meet AISC Design Guide 1 Appendix B, section 4.1. Offsetting the column in that direction would allow me to use a bigger plate size and meet the DG1 requirement while not exceeding the 9" limit to the wall.

That condition is common in the project that I am working on.

RE: Base Plate - Column Offset

No, the column can only be shifted from the plate center in the plane pf the gusset. Is this a common thing for you, or a rare case? Maybe because the bolts were misplaced in the field? I can log an enhancement request if I have a better understanding of the reason and impact.
