Firstly, I like the new look to STAAD and was happy to see some semblance of software development for the cost of a subscription. Hopefully this new interface will also be rolled out with STAAD Offshore, which has not been touched since 2004, despite the continued annual subscription payment.
Unfortunately, my positive attitude towards the new look software did not last long. I’ve been using the software for less than an hour and have come across the following issues:
Any assistance of correcting the above would be much appreciated.
I am glad to hear that you are excited with the new CONNECT Edition. It has been an enormous effort and we have had some great feedback from users who have also been excited to use this new build. In answer to your observations:-
1) There are several ways to change the load case in the PostProcessing Workflow. Either
a) Click on the arrow next to the current load case name displayed in the Status bar in the lower left of the screen.
b) Right clik on the graphic to display a context menu and pick 'Structure Diagrams' or 'Labels' and the dialog box that is displayed, click on the tab 'Loads and Results'. This displays a list of all defined primary and combination load cases and the required case can be selected.
2) The issue you are having with the buttons on the ribbon seems odd. We will investigate furrther and will provide more feedback in due course.
3) To change the style, font and colour of the labels can be set by clicking on the File tab with a model loaded to get to the backstage. Here select the Settings sheet and click on the Display Options to display the Options dialog where this can be set along with many other options.
I was also going to ask about the loadcase dropdown; I hadn't seen it down at the status bar (the Mode shape dropdown is still in the upper menu bar).
I have been looking for the option to turn on/off individual labels (Node numbers, member numbers etc.) but I can't find it.
The main View menu - First option for "Labels" has a quick toggle for node, beam and plate labels.
Right click on the screen to get to Labels..., the traditional Diagrams dialog with all the options. Hotkeys (like Shift+N) still work too.
Hi Seth - thanks for the reply.
I didn't have any problem displaying the node/member numbers "en bloc" in the "analytical" modeller screen; but in V8i there was a facility to turn individual labels on or off - this was very useful if there were a lot of nodes/members close together because it offered the chance to make them readable by isolating other adjacent labels. It is this facility that I can't find.
However, in the "physical" modeller screen the labels option doesn't appear to do anything:-
