0.75xIequiv is no longer the standard to reduce the moment of inertia for composite sections controlled by deflection. How is RAM SS accommodating this revision?
Ref. AISC 360 15th Ed., Section Comm.-I3.2
We don't have the 15th edition in Ram Steel yet, so we are still checking things according to the 2010 or 2005 codes. I'll pass along the noted change.
Since there was always some controversy over the necessity of applying the 0.75 reduction (it was only in the Commentary, it wasn't a Specification requirement), it was implemented as an option. You have always had the ability in the program to apply this or not. The option is found in the Criteria - Design Defaults command. Based on the fact that it has been removed from the 15th Edition manual (since it was determined to not be necessary and resulted in an overstatement of the deflections), I suggest that you make sure that that option is not selected. I also recommend that you go to the RAM Defaults Utility in the RAM Manager and make sure it is deselected there so that future models do not have that option selected.
