Hi,I'm a relatively new user and having an issue with the error message below;
It is happening for all of my edge columns. I've played with the geometry, trying a flat slab, with an edge thickening and varied the punching shear "maximum search radius". The only fix I've found is moving the columns significantly away from the slab edge (>300mm), I made sure they were fully under the slab before starting.
Any advice?
Regards,Liam
Hi Karl,
Thanks for the quick response, that clears up the issue, wasn't too sure what was going on! But makes sense as I was concerned about my punching capacity. Just assumed it would come up on the design status drawing, not as a warning.Much appreciated.
Liam
Typically, this error occurs when the unreinforced punching shear capacity is less than demand and the program is not able to add shear stud rails to achieve the required capacity.
When detailing shear stud rails, the program only extends the rails to the extents of the punching shear search radius. If the stud rails are extended to this location and the punching shear capacity is still not adequate, the error above is displayed. Its purpose is to alert the user that a larger search radius and longer shear stud rails may resolve the problem.
