I have installed the STAAD. Pro Connect Edition, but all my previous std file showed no icon. Previously I was using STAAD Connect Version 8. Anyone can advice on this? How it be shown with STAAD icon?
Did you have both V8i and the CONNECT edition installed?
Go to Start - Default programs - 'Associate a file type with a program' and check if .std files are associated with STAAD.pro (Windows 7 instructions, in Windows 10 it's Default app settings - Choose default apps by file type).

I only have CONNECT edition installed and removed the V8i as I thought it was a older version. Meaning I need to have both V8i and CONNECT edition to be installed?
You don't need to have both installed, but you can have both installed. It was just a detail that I thought might be significant. Did changing the file type association work?
I have tried to change the file type association in Window 10. However, i could not found any std file in default program setting.
Please try the following:
1) Right click on any .std file2) Go to Open With -> Choose another app3) Check the box next to 'Always use this app to open .std files'4) Click 'More Apps' at the bottom of the apps list5) Click 'Look for another app on this PC' at the bottom of the apps list6) Select Bentley.Staad.exe from C:\Program Files\Bentley\Engineering\STAAD.Pro CONNECT Edition\STAAD and click Open.
