I have Mcr calculation for built up I beam symmetrical about both axis, both manually and STAAD calculated according to Annex F, EN 1993-1-1:1992.
But the results are not matching.
Though difference between them is hardly 1.5%, But I am not able to figure out why it exists?
All parameters are identical, but not sure about warping and torsional constant.
I have used Roars formula book, Table 10.2 (6): wide flanged beam with equal flanges.
How does staad calculates it?
Regards
Vishal.
Why are you using EN1993-1-1:1992? You should be using EN1993-1-1:2005. To investigate this issue, please attach your manual calculations and STAAD.Pro model. Thanks.
Hello Modestas,
You are right, I am using EN 1993-1-1:2005 as design code, but for calculation of elastic critical moment referring EN1993-1-1:1992, annex F.
But am I using the right reference?
If no, I will correct it.
Yes, EN1993-1-1:2005 reverts to the draft version of EN1993-1-1 while calculating Mrc. The 1.5% difference does not seem high to me, however, if you could attach your model and hand calculations, we could try to figure out the reason for the difference.
How to upload it, so that only you can refer it?
You can upload file by following these instructions: https://communities.bentley.com/help/w/be_communities_help/7079/communities-secure-file-upload
Just let me know the file names once you upload it.
