I am designing the top level of a structure. I modeled a dummy structure below to ensure I was getting the correct wind loads. I need to get the reactions from my top level on the structure below. Using the reaction envelope feature doesn't work because this only gives reactions at the base level. Is there any way to see the reactions I'm looking for without having to look at the member forces and then calculate the resulting reactions?
Thank you.
As noted, reactions are only at the base nodes. You have to use member forces in a case like this.
Another idea would be to take the current loads and applied forces output and re-apply those exact same loads as User Defined Story Forces on the top levels (i.e. freeze the loads), then remove the supporting levels from the model altogether. If the flexibility of the supporting structure is not critical to your analysis that would also work.
