DEAR SIR,
I AM DESIGNING A PERGOLA WHICH IS MADE OF STEEL AND ALUMINIUM . PLEASE TELL ME HOW TO DESIGN ALUMINIUM IN STAD PRO.FOR ALUMINIUM IN THE MATERIAL SECTION THE VALUE OF YIELD AND TENSILE STRENGTH IS 0 WHY THEY ARE ZERO THERE?. I PUT MYSELF VALUE OF YIELD AND TENSILE STRENGTH IN DESIGN SECTION.BUT WHEN I RUN STAD GIVE ME WARNING THAT YOUR VALUE OF E IS NOT SEEMS CORRECT.PLEASE SOLVE MY ISSUE.STAD FILE ALSO ATTACHED.

To design aluminum members, you need to use the Aluminum design code, not the steel design code. In STAAD.Pro V8i, instead of selecting Steel vertical page in the Design, select Aluminum and add the required design parameters and check code commands.
PLEASE TELL ME NAME OF ALUMINIUM DESIGN CODE.AND ALSO TELL ME THAT CAN WE DO ANALYSIS FOR BOTH MS AND ALUMINIUM IN A SAME STAD FILE?
DEAR SIR WHY THE YIELD STRENGTH AND TENSILE STRENGTH OF ALUMINIUM IS ZERO IN MATERIAL LIBRARY?
These values that you see as part of the material definition ( under the Type of Material ) are NOT used within STAAD.Pro. These were created for transferring data to other software. For example when carrying out the connection design for steel structures analyzed in STAAD.Pro using the RAM Connection interface, the data specified as FY FU RY RT are used. For Aluminum you can just simply leave those alone.
sir when i get the output utilization ratio table it is not showing the clause table for aluminium members for steel members it is showing...please tell me why is happening so.file also attachedPERGOLA w final final.STD
Yes this is a current limitation for Aluminum design. Only ratios are displayed in the tables. For details of the design including critical clause number, please refer to the analysis output file.
Hi Sye, thank you very much this is VERY helpful. I have one question though ..in your STAAD file there's a command ''Product 3 " what does it mean and shall we use it always for Aluminum ? Number 3 is always the same? I have alittle confusion about this. Thank you very much.
