I am trying to import the gravity deflection values of beam elements under the OTHER MATERIAL category using RAM Data Access. Does someone know if this is possible? I saw that you can extract gravity deflections for steel and concrete members, but I haven't seen the function to do the same for OTHER MATERIAL elements. Thanks!
The methods for getting deflection are material specific as you noted. For example, composite steel and cracked concrete beam sections have effective moments of inertia that are not directly entered or tabulated. Unfortunately, there are no specific methods for other material beams. You could try the GetBeamNonCompDisp method in the IGravitySteelDesign1 interface, but I suspect it might fail for an other material member.
Thanks for the answer Eric. As you mention, the NonCompDisp function will not work as the elements cannot be designed using the steel design module. I thought there could be a way of extracting the deflections because if I model them as LATERAL elements, I can actually see the deflection values at quartiles in the RAM FRAME module
