When doing the foudation overtuning check, how does the program deal with the seismic load from foundation itself? I couldn't find any option to specify seimsic parameters. I am assuming we need to apply the seismic load from the foundation itself from its center of gravity to the overtuning edge to check. Please help.
The overturning effect due to seismic shears are calculated by multiplying the shears by a moment arm. When no pedestal height is input, the moment arm = thickness of the footing. When pedestal height is input, moment arm = pedestal height + thickness of the footing.
Thank you for the reply Sye. Actually what I was asking is the seimsic load of the foundation itself, not the moment arm. Does the program calculate the seismic load generated from the foundation itself or not? The foundation itself has its own mass so I think the seismic load could be generated by itself such as: V=Cs*W(foundation weight). Please reply. Thanks.
Perry,
There is currently no facility in the stability calculations to compute the term "V" or the moment caused by "V".
