Calculation shear force for a composite Section

How can I calculate the shear force affected a composite section (slab on girder composite section) at the support point ... the slab is modeled as shell element and the girder is beam element. is it the Reaction of the support or have another calculation method ?

Thanks in advance

  • Good Afternoon Sye,

       Hope you are fine : ) ...

Regarding this composite slab on girder bridge model ,. when I used the support reactions values as the shear for the composite section at the ends, it was found to be greater than the summation of the shear force in the beam ( Fy) and the out of plane shear for the plates within the effective width (SQX) .. Could  you help me to find the reason of this difference and which is correct shear value acts on the composite section ? A2L-20-4G - Shear.stdA2L-20-4G - Shear - slighty shifted - End girders.std

In other words, are the supports reactions including other forces in addition to the shear of the beam (Fy) and out of plane shear of the plates (SQX) ?

** this difference in values is greater when the loads are near the edge of the bridge (the same edge where the supports are located) between the girders (Supports) ..
