Hi,
I do need to add some lateral point load on a slab where the column is supported by the slab. Is there any way to apply lateral point load on the location where there exist no lateral framing element in the RAM Modeler?
Is there a video or blog to guide how to manually add point load on a slab in the RAM Concept?
Thank you.
Farzaneh
In Ram Concept you can place a point load on any load layer, at any point, and any elevation. Point loads that are applied at an elevation are connected back to the slab node via a rigid like (like a flagpole).
If you have an object or drawing background to snap to, that helps with placement, but you can also add the load free hand or at a specific typed-in coordinate. Construction lines can also help. I prefer to model a column above on the mesh input plan for such a case, so that I can see the column location and snap to it on all plans.
Thanks. Can I transfer this load from RAM Concept to RAM Frame to analyze and design my Columns and Lateral Frames for this point load that I generated in RAM Concept?
No, "load" transfer from Concept to RAM SS is limited to concrete column gravity force reactions. For more see: https://communities.bentley.com/products/structural/structural_analysis___design/w/structural_analysis_and_design__wiki/ram-concept-ram-structural-system-integration-tn.aspx

Thanks. I do need to design my lateral system for this lateral load that is applied to the slab. Can I apply lateral point load where there is no lateral frame in RAM Modeler or RAM Frame?
If there is a diaphragm then you can assign a lateral loads to any point in Ram Frame using Loads - Load Cases...
Nodal loads applied to the ends of lateral members can only be assigned in Modeler, within the elevation view, and are limited to the locations of the lateral frames.
