I having a experience when i change length of my member in Staad Physical modeller the load assign in that member does not update, I do not know if it is really like that.
I have checked the issue and your observation is true. We will definitely inform the development team so that this bug gets fixed asap.

I would like to add one comment. The load type of a Variable Distributed Load is designed for distributed loads that do not extend over the full length of the member, hence there is a start position and end position required. That is recorded at the time the load is created. If a member is subsequently modified so the length changes, the issues becomes how has the load changed? If it equally possible that the load itself has not changed. If the member is made smaller then if we made the load smaller, we could be equally reducing the overall loading which would be a more serious situation. Also, when changing the length of a beam it is equally possible that the load position should change, but that is not something the program can know. It requires the engineer to say how the change affects the loading and make the necessary changes to reflect the new situation.
