I have an issue with the response spectrum mass source definition in Eurocode 8
I have 4 load cases considering earthquake forces in (X, -X, Z, & -Z) directions.
I define the mass source for the response spectrum calculations as per the following steps and I need to confirm if these steps are accurate and correct or not.
Response Spectrum_Eurocode 8.std
The best way to define the seismic mass is to add a mass reference load case. Please find the attached model.
It is suggested that you use the loading which is contributing seismic mass in the three orthogonal direction (X, Y and Z) and use unsigned loading values to get rid of cancelation of mass.
You can add X and Z directional loading. In load combinations, you can take the effect of -ve directional EQ loading.4150.Response Spectrum_Eurocode 8.std
Thanks.
Thanks for your concern.
