Hi,
When I performed Data Check, I am getting the following error
"Horizontal brace not supported by frame member".
Below is the screen shot of disconnected nodes
I have already checked for duplicate nodes and lateral member assignment as well.
What may be the reason for this error. Can anyone give me an insight on this error.
Thanks
Uma
The beams and columns at the ends of the horizontal braces need to be lateral members (red ones), not gravity members.
Seth,
Thank you.
After I changed the connecting beams and columns to lateral members, the error got eliminated. Still it shows disconnected nodes at those locations. why is that?.
Disconnected nodes are those nodes not connected to the rigid diaphragm, I presume that you do not have a diaphragm here.
Yes. I don't have a diaphragm in this model.
I don't have diaphragms to transfer the lateral load instead I have horizontal bracing in my model. Can you please let me know how can I make Ram Frame to transfer lateral loads through horizontal bracing?. Since I don't have diaphragms, I am getting the following warning as well. I thought of applying nodal loads at horizontal bracing and beam intersections. I have also looked into the option - Pseudo-Flexible Diaphragm, but I am not sure how to model a new one. There are some instruction for changing the diaphragm type not for modeling a new one. Am I missing something?..
