Non-linear material using moment-curvature diagrams

Hi

Can StaadPro model non-linear materials, specially using moment-curvature diagrams like the one attached. This is for a steel H-pile, but I would also be looking at concrete piles.

Also, can Staadpro model non-linear soil springs with defined displacements.

I'm doing a design for bridge pile under seismic liquefaction and lateral spreading.

  • Hi

STAAD doesn't handle nonlinear materials in its current version. However, Pushover Analysis (Advanced Edition) allows for the definition of a moment-curvature diagram. For this type of analysis, STAAD refers to FEMA/ATC. For steel structures only.

STAAD includes multi-linear springs where user can define pairs of stiffness vs displacements. The limitation is that it cannot be used in a nonlinear analysis.
