I understand there's a partial moment release for beams in STAAD for redistributing moments as permitted by the code (ACI-318:2014 / 6.6.5). But the hard part is determining the ratio of release manually as it requires knowing the envelope moment before redistribution to calculate the ratio of release that should not exceed 20%. The task takes many iterations until 2 consecutive iterations are equal, and it is done at each side of each support considering that beam sizes (that effect the redistribution calculations) are also different on the different sides of the support.
Can STAAD perform a moment redistribution after the first run of analysis?
I've only seen this in a 2D beam design software (can't disclose the name) and it does it with a single check box turned on. However, since it's a 2D software, it requires that you do manual calculations of the loads transferred from the slab to that beam. It would be great if this can be done in 3D software like STAAD too.
