Hi,
I want to apply inclined support normal to a member end. Is it possible? for example:
The local axis should be normal to the members. I know i can do it one by one using node ref. However above is just and example. I have a huge structure. Even if i can apply using editor that can also be helpful. but applying one by one using opposite node in the beam will take me agaes. Any options on this?
EDIT: Also how to view inclined support axis visually? Its very frustrating not to know how i applied the inclination.
Regards,
For inclined supports along radial directions, you can choose a node at the center of the circle as the reference joint and you can then assign that inclined support to all nodes along the periphery of the circle in one shot. No need to do this one by one. If you have such supports at multiple elevations then at each elevation you would have to designate a reference joint at the center of the circle and repeat the support assignment at each level.
As of now inclined supports are not displayed graphically as being inclined. That is something which is in our development pipeline. You may however get the support reactions along the inclined direction by using the command
SET INCLINED REACTIONPRINT SUPPORT REACTION
and the support reactions printed in the ANL file will be in terms of the inclined support axis system.
