So I am new to STAAD...
I would like to have the spreadsheet in physical modeler to show the "buttons" on top:
I only have the spreadsheet....
Dear User,
I am not sure about your problem. But if you are using an old version then please upgrade to 21.03.00.146. Go through the attached link for details.

But for your issue, you may try the following.
Open STAAD.Pro in physical modeler mode. Go to File, Click on Options. Close the popped up window and check if your problem solves.
I have this problem too. Update 2 had the buttons above the spreadsheet but no place in the ribbon. Update 3 has tabs in the ribbon but no buttons above the spreadsheet. While I can do everything I need to from the ribbon, the buttons above are much more convenient. I'll try a service request as it sounds as though this wasn't an intentional change.
This change is by design. We have now made the Spreadsheet a separate item in the ribbon menu as shown next. All the options that used to be above the spreadsheet on the right is now available in the ribbon menu. The new arrangement is aimed at providing better visibility for those options. More space is now available to display these options and you can see a text description for each.

It explains that the change is by intent. Even though I just started using STAAD, and only used the "ribbon version", I think Caitlin have a point. Could it be made possible for the user to choose? (in next release)??
Sure. All your inputs are well taken and communicated to the product development team.
