Dear Respected colleagues, as you can see from the attached images, i need help in modeling the true behavior of my pier system as shown in the 3D view. Since one pier is very stiff in transverse direction, there should be no deflection of any sorts but staad is analysing it as a regular portal frame and showing deflections. Shouldn't providing section properties have handled this ? Kindly suggest as how to model it as accurately as possible to get good results and ease of result extraction for reaction and bending values (both directions) at pier base. Thank you.
I would recommend modelling the structure using meshed plates in order to get the expected results.
