When do we bypass Slenderness for the Compression Beam ( secondary beam )

Hello Everybody

I am new user of Staad pro. I have question about member slenderness.

May I bypass Slenderness for Secondary member (Eave beam)

  • Slenderness for the compression beam should not be avoided in design. For code checking you should fulfill the limit of that particular code. But in some situations if the beam is thoroughly supported by plate or any other member and we are not including that plate or member in our model, then we may bypass slenderness check as we know that in reality the member is thoroughly supported. So, it depends upon your engineering judgement to analyze the practical situation before bypassing any member for slenderness check.
