"ERROR NOT ENOUGH MEMORY FOR SPECTRUM FORCE-6" in STAAD.Pro V8i

Hello, I´m trying to analyze a model in STAAD.Pro V8i, said model consists of a slab as foundation, a perimetral RC wall and pedestals and beams to support the upper structure. The model has about 22000 plate elements and about 40 beams. Now to the problem, when I run the analysys of the model it takes hours to run; something thought was normal given the number of plates it has, but at some point the program shows a window with this message: "forrtl: severe (153): allocatable array or pointer is not allocated image PC Routine Line Source DFORMD.DLL 10006899 Unknown Unknown Unknown", however the analysys doesn´t stop there, it goes on for a while until it shows "ERROR NOT ENOUGH MEMORY FOR SPECTRUM FORCE-6" and then it stops with the analysys. The thing is the computer was fitted with a 32gb RAM card to be able to run the model and it still shows the error so I´m wondering if there´s a way to free up space for the analysys or if the problem may be related to processing power instead of simply memory. It´s worth nothing that the model is running with a CUT O F FREQUENCY of 325 and a CUT OFF MODE of 750 so that it can reach 90% mass participation factors. Here´s the model, if you see anything funny about it or just want more details just let me know. Any help with this issue will be greatly aprecciated

Thanks in advance.

  • Sorry for the late response, i´m just noticing I got your reply. We tried with the MEMORY 100 command but the analysis kept shutting down (it took less time for it to crash with the command, something like 30 minutes). The solution; or what we thought to be the solution at least, turned out to be updating from STAAD Series 5 to STAAD Series 6. The model finishes the analysis but now it shows another error: "STAAD.Pro failed to open this file on a previous occassion. Do you want to try a safe recovery? Please note that STAAD.Pro is capable of recovering only input data All post analysis data will be lost" so even though the analysis was performed to completion, we are back to not having results again. Don´t know if this is an isolated incident that just happened to ocurr in that precise moment but anyway, that´s our situation at the moment. (I can´t attach the model file because it´s running right now, but the only change that was made was making the number of modes 900)
