Hi there,
I did an analysis with default material properties. Then I tried to change the yield strength of steel from 36 ksi to 46 ksi to improve the performance of the beam, but the results did not change. It's strange. The version I used is 20.07.11.70. Thanks for your help.

You need to add the deign parameter FYLD and set it to a value of 46 Ksi ( or 46000 psi) for the higher grade steel to be considered. Please see below
PARAMETER 1
CODE AISC
FYLD 46000 ALL
CHECK CODE ALL
FINISH
Yes, it works.
Thank you for your quick answer.
Hello,
I have a similar problem. I am using code EN 1993-1-1:2005, and I do add PY 355000 ALL command in Design parameters, and I can read it in the output file, but in the Steel Design Detail item there is still Material quality S235.
I tried to change it back to PY 235000 ALL, and nothing changes in results, so I think that something else is wrong. I have the same problem on several calculations.
May you please check? Thank you in advance :)
Please attach the model and illustrate the issue with a screenshot.
Hi,
In this screenshot is how I added the parameter for tensile strength, and information in output file:
After I run the calculation and check Steel Design Detail item in Reports, i got this information:
If I change PY 355000 ALL to PY 235000 ALL, i got all the same results and utilization ratios.
Besides that, in this model i have FAIL EC-6.2.7 (5) which is Torsional failure, but Torsional moment is almost zero in Beam 121.
I also attached std file, so may you please check if I am doing something wrong.
