I've sent .std files from the latest version of STAAD.Pro (22.00.00.15) to two people recently. Both of them have older versions of STAAD. I'm not sure how old, probably 3 to 5 years. For both of them STAAD crashed and/or locked up while trying to open them. I sent only the .std file, no others. Any idea what could be causing the problem? These are fairly straight forward files. The only thing I can think of that's a little out of the ordinary is I'm using DAM. I don't think their versions of STAAD are so old they wouldn't have that capability. Besides, seems like it should give an error message, not just die.
Would you be able to attach one of those files?
I found the problem. The file had "TBITER" as a parameter in the PERFORM DIRECT ANALYSIS command. When I took that out it ran in the older version. Seems like that should have just generated an error, not a total meltdown.
