Tank Foundation Ringwall Design - Calculation sheet

Hi,

I've designed ringwall by sfa version 8.4.1.24 and found few glitches in units in the calculation sheet. Attached sfa file and pdf version of calculation sheet with markups.

I have summarized the glitches as follows (may be seen in pdf attachment)

1. Page 1 of 9 - Unit for miPDFRavenswood ringwall_client load.sfanimum ringwall width

2. Page 1 of 9 - Unit for maximum ringwall width

3. Page 1 of 9 - Unit for ringwall height

4. Page 1 of 9 - Value for width dimension increment

5. Page 2 of 9 - Unit for allowable bearing pressure

6. Page 3 of 9 - Text placement

7. Page 4 of 9 - Text placement

8. Page 9 of 9 - Value for rebar

Please fix them in next release. Thanks.

    Hi,

We tested the tank foundation model that you attached using an internal test build and are happy to report that the following were found to be rectified.

    1. Item 1. Page 1 of 9 - Unit for minimum ringwall width
    2. 2. Page 1 of 9 - Unit for maximum ringwall width
    3. 3. Page 1 of 9 - Unit for ringwall height
    4. 5. Page 2 of 9 - Unit for allowable bearing pressure
    5. 6. Page 3 of 9 - Text placement
    6. 7. Page 4 of 9 - Text placement

These corrections will be available in the next version of the program that is due to be released in a few weeks.

The remaining issues- Item 4. Page 1 of 9 - Value for width dimension increment and 8. Page 9 of 9 - Value for rebar- will be fixed soon after.

Attaching the calculation sheet PDF containing the report from the test build for your reference.

  • Thanks Sujoy for acknowledging and fixing the issues. However certain things need to be resolved after seeing the report that created from test build.

Items 1, 2 and 3 those for the units of ringwall width and height seemed to have in inches rather feet. Even in version 8.4.1.24, the units were seemed correct if the length unit was chosen as inches from unit setup box. The glitch in units happens only when the length unit was chosen as feet. So please make sure the report reflects the corresponding units based on user's choice.

Many texts seems overlapped. Page 4 of 9 is empty.

Also, in addition to the units glitch, I found weird results in overturning and sliding checks if the seismic load is set to zero (and only with wind shear and moment). Please take care of those.

    Thanks.

  • Hi,

    a. Regarding item 1, 2 and 3- The file that was uploaded had the ringwall geometry length input unit as feet but in the calculation sheet reporting it is in inches as tested with the internal build. So, there may be an issue that the units are always in inches. Added this to the investigation list.

    b. Many texts seem overlapped. Page 4 of 9 is empty- There are overlapping texts and an empty page in the saved PDF. This is a known calculation sheet saving issue. This one is also in our target.

    c. Weird results in overturning and sliding checks if the seismic load is set to zero (and only with wind shear and moment)- I have edited and made the applied seismic load as 0. Now the sliding and overturning check values are reported [non zero] against the wind shear and moment. Found to be fixed at our end.

  • Hi,

In reference to this thread, want to know if the next version of the program got released or not. I do have version 8.4.1.24, is this still latest?

    Thanks.
