Please feel free to ask your questions or post your comments here on this discussion thread regarding the webinar, "Concrete Building Analysis, Design, and Detailing."
Webinar Description: Concrete building design and analysis demands accurate results, but you also need an efficient workflow to save time and money. Specialized structural analysis applications can help you achieve that…and when you combine it with specialized design and detailing software, you’ve got a complete solution!
In this webinar, structural expert Madhan Elumalai will demonstrate how to:

Hello,
a.What goes into the selection of the lateral and gravity columns. I attended a seminar and the instructor was of the opinion that the external frames were better modeled as lateral frames and internal ones as gravity. In your case all columns were modeled as lateral. Any particular reason?
b.In the presentation, I noticed you selected the STAAD Pro Advanced License and not the STAAD Advanced Concrete Design License because the former was included in the Structural Enterprise License.
1. Does it mean that the STAAD Advanced Concrete Design is not part of the Structural Enterprise?
2.I would like to check which of the 2 licenses is enabled on my RCDC. How do i get the license configuration to pop-up when i begin my RCDC so that I can check the appropriate license? Really need your help here.
Regards.
a. There is nothing wrong with having all the columns participate in the lateral system. The important thing to understand about Ram Structural System is that the distinction can be made, and the gravity member are excluded form the lateral load case analysis. For more see:
b. Structural Enterprise includes STAAD.Pro Advanced, and STAAD.pro Advanced includes RCDC. You can check the Bentley Licensing Tool to confirm the activation status of the products if needed, but it's all covered under SEL
I modeled a building in RAM Structural System and opened the file with RCDC but the basic load case info is grayed out unlike in the presentation. Also in the presentation, he had some load case templates which he loaded.
Why are my load cases grayed out and how can i create some templates.
Thanks
Here's a pdf outlining the steps.

Thanks for the pdf.
I used the approach on the tutorial attached to the software and it worked. However, for my model, i have only gravity members and as such, i by-passed the RAM Frame and moved straight from the Modeler to the RAM Concrete where I created the load cases and combinations for design of the gravity members.
1. If I have only gravity members, is this approach OK, or i still have to create load cases in the RAM Frame first.
2. I noticed from your PDF and from the webinar that both RSS files had RAM Frame load cases. Will RCDC detect load cases if I don't define any in RAM Frame but RAM Concrete only. I see this to be the main difference in my model and suspect that's how come I'm still not seeing my load cases in RCDC.
