Staad.pro Connect Edition Build 21.00.00.57 I cannot select a profile section from the database

I am self learning Staad and am following the first tutorial; this is the three-member portal frame with uniform load along the beam.  As I go through the tutorial, whether its building the model using the physical modeler or using the analytical modeler, when I try to assign a profile, I cannot.

In the physical modeler, when I select the two columns to assign properties (profiles) and select the AISC W sections, the display field stays blank, i.e. no selection can be made.

When I am in the analytical modeler, when I hit the Specification tab and the "properties - whole structure" window appears, all the selections are not active (not available for selection).

I've checked the Section Database Manager under the Configuration tab and can see all the shape file .db3 databases. I've tried to select these and to save but to no avail.  What is the problem here?

  • Hello,

I can see W sections in physical modeler.

You are using an older version and I am not sure if any issue was there with it. You can upgrade to the latest one 22.00.00.15 and check the issue.

For analytical modelling if you want to make any changes in the model that has been created in physical modelling environment, you need to drop the physical model first in utilities tab as shown below.

Please note, if you drop the physical model, you will not be able to go back to physical modelling workflow of that model again.

    Thanks & Regards,
