Currently one of my users has not been able to launch RAM Elements while remoting into his computer at work with Remote Desktop. When launching the program the error message "LoadLibrary failed with Error 87: The parameter is incorrect" pops up and Elements will crash and Freeze up. Through testing I have narrowed it down to RAM Elements not working with the video drivers that Remote Desktop uses.
Which version of Elements? We have had some graphical issues over the years, eg: https://communities.bentley.com/products/ram-staad/f/ram-staad-forum/137869/nodes-in-ram-elements-do-not-display/417192#417192 or https://communities.bentley.com/products/ram-staad/w/structural_analysis_and_design__wiki/14607/ram-elements-program-crash-during-startup-or-design though neither matches your symptom exactly.
He is running version 14.00.00.240
It is working OK for me. My remote desktop connection is a Windows 7x64 machine, but that should not matter. The machine I am running it from has an nVidia GP. I tried a few versions of Ram Elements.
Some additional information, the laptop our user is using is a Dell Precision M6700 with an AMD FirePro M6000
I know this is an old post, but others may be running into it now that remote desktop connections are so popular. David, if you found any good work around for the Ram Elements LoadLibrary failed with Error 87 issue please let me know. Otherwise I am telling people to update graphics adapter drivers as a first step.
