I am analysing an RCC box girder for which some peculiar tapered sections have to be created. I created a tapered rectangular section in AutoCAD 2014. I used polyline to create the 2D and then extruded it to make it a solid 3D section. Now when I import this into section wizard, I get an error, "Import error". I tried saving the AutoCAD file in various formats of .dwg and .dxf but the same result. What is it that I am not doing right?

Your file contains multiple drawings of the same section in the same location. Also, the dimensions are also very less. Can you please create a new dwg file with appropriate dimensions in mm and then try to import that? You need not make them using polyline. Normal line is enough.
How come it has multiple drawings? When I select it, the prompt in the command line says '1 object selected'. Though, I did try giving dimensions in mm and it worked. Thank you! But why did this happen? Giving the dimensions in meters did work but in mm it worked. Also now after assigning the section to the concerned member in Staad, I am not able to see it in the rendered view. When selected it shows the section assigned and the corresponding properties but in rendered view the same is not visible. Any idea why?
This .dxf file's section is not a solid one and so I can't use it for my analysis. Any other way around it?
Even if you draw in meter I think there is no option to import with that unit. When you import that .dxf it provides option to choose unit. Choose appropriate as per your need. For creating rendered view you need to provide profile points.
