Hi,
Please see attached file. Why is the program giving a message "area required - Failed"? What exactly does this mean? Please advise.
Thanks,

Can you please attach the screenshot of the error message? Also specify the version of STAAD Foundation Advanced you are using. I tested the same in my machine and found that, you have created some regions with no specifications. I deleted all such regions and now the model runs fine for me.
I'm using version 8.2.0.31 (I don't have access to the latest version). Screenshots 1 shows some of the "Warnings". Screenshot 2 shows "Instability". Screenshot 3 shows "Failed" reinforcement design. I only see 1 region in my file and don't see the drop down option in your screenshot (please see my screenshot4). How do I delete the other regions?
The attachments dint come through. Can you attach them once again?
Please see attached. What's causing the instability? Thanks
Follow up on this. Please advise
We suspect that for some of the load cases, the overturning moments on the mat are large and there isn't enough restoring moment to prevent the slab from overturning because the selfweight of the mat and soil weight above it are not included in the loads to be considered for any given load case. The yellow colored warnings that appear in the lower half of the screen are indicating that. It is responsible for the instability warnings that appear during the STAAD analysis.
From the left side of the screen, go to Loads & factors - Apply Self Weight and Dead Weight factor, and set the value of the Dead Weight Factor to 1.0 for all the load cases. Then run the analysis again and see if it helps.
