Apologies for reviving this old thread, just want to know if there's a workaround to add Base Plate as Basic connection? Every time I assign my template, RAM connection optimizes it (because of being a Smart Connection) thereby changing my default base plate size so it's a bit tedious since I need to readjust it to what I want and I'm doing this for a lot of different columns. Hope you can answer, thank you sir.

The Base Plate connection is one of the connection types of Frames:

Yes, you can create a Base Plate template in the Connection Database by adding and new table and then new item to it.

Another question, Is there a way I can add base plate templates into the STAAD Pro Connect edition to work with the Connection Design module?

Hello, I am not able to create a base plate, under Structural Type I only have two options, FRAME and TRUSS no Base Plate, how can I fix this problem?.

The basic steps are outlined below.

When you define a base plate, you have to check the "Optimizable" option. Because all the Smart connection templates require this value to be TRUE, otherwise it will not show I the list.
