How does RAM element perform temperature analysis on a steel building?
I have a steel building and i need to analyse to analyse the building for a change of 32deg F. My lateral system for the building is BRB's, so I need to check if my temperature deflections or seismic deflections govern for the BRB design.
The model has been exported to RAM elements from RAM structural systems. For this model I have applied a temperature load of 32deg F. When I am checking the deflections on the nodes along a grid line, I am getting the same deflections on all these nodes which are of the order 0.02" on 2nd story. This number doesn't look right since the building is about 360'-0" long.
Let me know where I might have gone wrong or if I am missing something when considering the affect of temperature on the structure in RAM elements.
Here's the help topic (F1) from the member temperature loading.

Hi,
I have applied the temperature load like it was mentioned in the file that you sent. But still my nodal displacements along the same line remains the same.
Is the structure free to expand or rigidly constrained? I can't comment on the magnitude of the displacement without the model or a lot more detail.
The structure is free to expand. I was not able to upload the model in this thread so I have created a service request and have uploaded the model there. My service request number is 7001002326.
