Hey, Does RAM check gravity columns for deformation compatibility for seismic design categories D through F per ASCE 7-10 12.12.5 ? Also, I read something about ASCE 7 Stability coefficients from RAM 15 release notes ( pic below) what is this about?
Our approach is that the gravity columns are assumed pinned and they lean upon the lateral frames so the lateral frames are designed for the full P-Delta effect of the entire set of gravity loads.
For gravity concrete members we do implement ACI 318 21.11.
8.29 ASCE 7 Stability CoefficientsThe ASCE 7 Stability Coefficients report list calculated stability coefficients according to Eq. 12.8-16 in ASCE 7-05, ASCE 7-10, and ASCE 7-16. These coefficients are only reported for ASCE 7 seismic load cases. Note that gravity load cases must be also analyzed in order to calculate the stability coefficients. The report contains two sections for each seismic load case analyzed: the first section reports diaphragm shears, drifts and vertical loads;the second section shows calculated stability coefficients and also it reports max. permitted limits according to ASCE 7-05, ASCE 7-10, and ASCE 7-16. Note that calculated vertical loads include dead, live, roof and snow loads (live loads are reduced with live load reduction factors).
