Slab Step & Reinforcement Out of Cross Section

Hello Bentley Team,

I have a model featuring a step beam, which I have uploaded via Secure Upload. When possible could let me know if I have meshed it correctly, as well as whether the Out of Cross Section errors are due to me having placed bars in the ineffective area due to cross-section trimming.

Thank you very much for your time.

  • The reinforcement out of cross section warnings are due to cross section trimming. The problem areas are associated with middle strips that extend across the step that are marked in the image below.

I would use manual strip boundaries to trim the portions of the upper middle strips that extend across the step from the design strip. More on using manual strip boundaries can be found here if neeeded. The final product would like similar to what is shown in the image below.

I also see vertical gap warnings. More on this warning can be found under "Can Adjacent Slab Areas be Modeled with a Vertical Gap Between Them?" on this web page. You can eliminate these warnings by extending beams like the ones highlighted in the image below across the column to the edge of the slab drop.

  • Thank you Karl, I managed to do fix the first error by trimming the cross-sections already, but I was stuck on the second, as I thought beams had to extend to the centre of columns. Thank you very much!
